Description

The Leofoto PG-2 Folding Gimbal Head is constructed from T-6061 aluminum and hard anodized for maximum strength and durability. The PG-2 enables you to capture fast-moving subjects with a large and heavy telephoto lens that you otherwise could not do manually holding the lens. The arm swings back and forth and can be locked down at the required angle and the gimbal also has a bubble level on the base. The camera platform, which is Arca-type compatible, has height adjustability to help balance a telephoto lens on the head.  Along the arm of the gimbal are a 3/8" and two 1/4" accessory sockets. The design of the PG-2 allows for the gimbal to collapse for a more portable footprint, perfect for traveling when space is limited. The body has also been hollowed-out to optimize the weight to strength ratio. There is a certain stiffness designed with this model to enhance control and stability during use.

Great for small mirrorless systems such as OM Systems/Olympus or Panasonic

Like Jeffrey Hapeman I wish there was a way to loosen the vertical tilt a little more but otherwise this is perfect for my needs: an Olympus OM-1 with a S. Zuiko 150-400 f/4.5 zoom. Something that does not seem to be noted in the website or video ads is how easily this type of design for a gimbal allows it be converted without tools to a side-mount gimbal. Other designs require you to typically buy a conversion kit and use tools to take off the gimbal cradle and then mount a new piece to the tilt arm to do so. The side mount option makes it even lighter and smaller to pack.

Great but...too tight on tilt

The pan is the perfect amount of stiffness but the tilt is TOO tight/stiff. It's basically locked or TIGHT, there's nothing in between, no matter how much you loosen the knob. It's a bummer because otherwise this thing is perfect in every other way and an ingenious design. Very compact for travel.
