Description

The Leofoto PG-2S Compact Mini Folding Gimbal Head is a smaller and more compact iteration of the PG-2 head, designed for enhanced portability and compact usage. It is constructed from T-6061 aluminum and hard anodized for maximum strength and durability. The PG-2S enables you to capture fast-moving subjects with a large and heavy telephoto lens that you otherwise could not do manually holding the lens. The arm swings back and forth and can be locked down at the required angle and the gimbal also has a bubble level on the base. The camera platform, which is Arca-type compatible, has height adjustability to help balance a telephoto lens on the head.  Along the arm of the gimbal are a 3/8" and two 1/4" accessory sockets. The design of the PG-2S allows for the gimbal to collapse for a more portable footprint, perfect for traveling when space is limited. The body has also been hollowed-out to optimize the weight to strength ratio. There is a certain stiffness designed with this model to enhance control and stability during use.

If you require a model with greater weight support, consider the PG-2, a larger option available here.

Perfect combination of MP-326C monopod

It is the perfect combination of MP-326C monopod. As max load capacity 33 pounds and
with SC-70 Monopod Replacement Foot (Large Cup), it is very easy to maneuver 10.1 pounds
of Nikon Z9 body + Nikon 600mm F4 TC lens in tight space such as Africa Safari vehicle.

Very compact and light gimbal

I love this folding gimbal. It's very light and compact and super easy to travel with. You can easily mount the camera/lens vertically or horizontally. I had no problem support with a large telephoto lens like 600mm. The horizontal panning is very smooth. The vertical panning is smooth, but has extra resistant and thus a little slower in panning.

PG-2S

The PG-2S Gimbal head offers improved stability when using my 600mm f/4 prime lens on a monopod, compared to the VH-10S two-way tilt head I've used for months. While it is well-built, I've encountered two issues with its practicality for my needs:

1. Versatility for International Travel: I aim to use the PG-2S as my all-in-one solution for international travel, eliminating the need to carry multiple heads. Ideally, I would like it to work seamlessly with my 100-400mm and 24-120mm lenses as well. However, the plate design poses a challenge. The PG-2S plate, identical to that of the PG-3, is thinner than the plates included with the BV-20 fluid head and VH-10S. Although the 1/4" screws on these plates are of standard size, the thinner plate of the PG-2S prevents it from securely attaching the plate to the camera or the 100-400mm lens, even when fully tightened.

2. Stability During Hiking: When folded, the PG-2S has another limitation. The knob cannot securely lock the upper and lower sections together, even when fully tightened. This becomes problematic when carrying a monopod with the head attached, by hand or being secured outside the backpack, as the loose parts can shift. To address this, I've had to rely on additional measures like a rubber band or Velcro strap to keep it stable.
