Description

The Leofoto PG-3 Carbon Fiber Gimbal Head is constructed from 10 layers of Toray carbon fiber creating an extremely aesthetic gimbal setup. The brand new control knobs are buttery smooth and positioned to not interrupt the lens movement when setup and locked down. The PG-3 enables you to capture fast-moving subjects with a large and heavy telephoto lens that you otherwise could not do manually holding the lens. The arm swings back and forth and can be locked down at the required angle and the gimbal also has a bubble level on the base. The camera platform, which is Arca-type compatible, has height adjustability to help balance a telephoto lens on the head and future setups are easily repeatable with the printed scale on the side of the swing arm. The PG-3 was designed to minimize the weight for those who need portability when moving locations.

PG-3 gimbal head

This gimbal head is of high quality. According to Leofoto, the resistance in both panning and tilting is intentionally designed for stability. While the tilting motion is noticeably stiff when using my bare hands, the resistance becomes adequate after mounting my telephoto lens. I chose Leofoto over other brands because its ball heads and leveling bases resemble those of RRS, which I previously owned and liked much, but at a lower cost. Additionally, Leofoto offers three models of gimbal heads and carries products for videography and outdoor sports, showcasing its broad design experience. Although I've only owned it for a few weeks, I really like the design and feel of the head. Time will tell if it continues to meet my expectations.

Impressive!

Loved the quality of this head. Fit and finish is beautiful.
There is a slight resistance to movement in any direction which has smoothing affect to motion in any direction, much like a fluid head.
