The Leofoto YB-100P Series Leveling Base are designed to help users level a tripod in order to maintain level horizons and reduce time-consuming post processing corrections. The leveling base features a lightweight aluminum construction and the base is topped by a 3/8" mounting stud. The handle twists to lock the base in place for ease of use when mounted with three different handle length options available.

Forget Gitzo, get this tripod.
I bought the YB-100LP to use with my LM-404C tripod and the PG-1 Gimbal head. Nice and solid, exactly what I was looking for. In case you're wondering, the sheet of paper was just to prevent any scratching until I had decided I was keeping everything, which I did :)
The leveling base allows me to make fine adjustments to the level without touching the legs.
